CHAIRMAN's SUMMARY FOR 2007

The new year is a time of change and Maybole Health Forum is going through changes. We have become ‘dedicated followers of fashion’ with the introduction of our new polo shirts. Not slim-fit, fashionable and tastefully embroidered with our logo.

Members were resplendent when assisting on stage with Burns celebrations in Maybole Town Hall on 14th and 15th of December and drew many admiring glances.

Jamie Dunlop, our trainer for the past two years, has finally admitted defeat and we have a new trainer, Stephen Freeborn, starting in January. Good luck to him. Jamie has strived, some would say in vain, over the past two years to undo the results of the years of abuse we have subjected our bodies to. He has always retained his sense of humour, which is just as well, when putting us through our paces. Good luck Jamie, don’t be a stranger!

Jamie was at our Games Night on Thursday, December 20th. And brought his two friends. Competitions were played to an amazing level in darts, dominoes, pool and table-tennis. As a result of our concentrated and intense training regime we repelled the challenge of Jamie and his young friends in all events.

Results of finals were as follows:

  • Darts Colin Munro defeated Derek Robb

  • Dominoes Peter Lynn defeated Derek Walker

  • Pool Colin Munro defeated Brian Robertson

  • Table-Tennis Peter Lynn defeated Jim Paterson

We have been very pleased to welcome a number of new members over the past few months and numbers are increasing steadily. A number of members have expressed an interest in attempting to run a 10k in Glasgow next May, extra training will be organised unless we can think of an excuse!

Peter Lynn ( Chairman )
